Senior Cloud / DevOps Engineer

• Maximum Rate: $969.16 per day, including super ($977.77 plus GST if an ABN)
• Location: Hybrid work option is available whereby the candidate will be required to be in the office (Police HQ, Parramatta) 3 days a week and can work from home rest of the time.

This critical role will enable the organization to take full advantage of the scalability, flexibility and cost-efficiency of cloud computing. As the Cloud Engineer, you will provide technical support and advice on Cloud and related technologies to users across multiple locations and platforms, ensuring changes to the environment including complex deployments are managed and have minimal risk to the NSWPF and its data. The successful candidate will provide project assistance, and BAU activities. Responsibilities include:

• Carry out / Affect the implementation of application and platform solutions that adhere to current architecture standards in order to support the systems and services used by the organisation, in collaboration with capability and delivery teams.
• Manage large-scale or complex deployments or changes to the organisations information systems to comply with operational requirements for solution delivery
• Analyse and report on the performance of assigned systems and applications to guide owners in the development of business cases for necessary upgrades or decisions that will reduce issues and/or eliminate adverse impacts upon service delivery
• Ensure that installations are completed to time, cost and quality, to minimise operational and project risk and ensure costs are contained
• Develop, review and maintain application and platforms support documentation to assist others in restoring services and reduce the impact of unplanned outages
• Escalate performance issues with internal and / or external providers to minimise adverse impact of systems availability on business continuity
• Manage the integration of system solutions across disparate platforms and technologies in a range of environments, including the support of DevOps and Cloud platforms
• Responsible for change implementation planning and change management for applications and platforms to ensure that changes are performed in such a way as to meet the needs of the business and have a minimal risk to the business and its data.

Required Skills and Experience; They need a Senior Cloud / DevOps Engineer who has Azure experience:

• 8 years+ Cloud Engineer experience
• Strong Azure experience required
• Extensive DevOps experience in the implementation of cloud Infrastructure
• Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub
• Excellent scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Azure ARM template and Bicep. Terraform scripting skill is desirable
• Extensive experience in administering cloud Infrastructure services, including hybrid cloud environments in large organisations, multi cloud experience is preferred
• Familiar with cloud Infrastructure security and governance best practices, with ability to apply the best practices to enhance cloud security
• Demonstrated understanding and experience relating to application and software development, and support processes i.e., issue investigation and resolution, testing, change control management, version control processes.
• Excellent communication skills as the role requires interaction with multiple stakeholders, vendors and teams
• Certification e.g., Azure, is expected.
