SUMMARY:

An outstanding two-month opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel to join a leading healthcare/technology organisation in Sydney that improves the lives of its customers and the community.

This not-for-profit healthcare and technology company has been supporting Australians for over a decade. Based in Sydney, it employs over 100 people across Australia. With a collaborative culture, the organisation focuses on delivering healthcare and technology solutions.

THE ROLE:

• IT licensing (e.g. SaaS agreements, EULAs, etc.)
• Procurement processes
• Commercial contract negotiation and drafting
• Privacy (enough experience to recognise red flags)
• Funding agreements with shareholder funders, including the Commonwealth and States
• Collaboration with operational line areas to draft the requirements of services
• Drafting and negotiating data sharing arrangements (they have some templates, so a general working knowledge of privacy laws is useful)

• Working in the rapidly evolving and expanding intersection of health and technology for a two-month contract starting asap.
• Varied and interesting work, including:
• The role would also require the supervision of a paralegal who works 3 days p/w.
• You will be at the core of the business, working with a team of talented lawyers to provide legal support to all aspects of the business
• There is just as much emphasis on your soft skills - communication and, self-awareness, initiative as there is on your technical skills
• Duration: Two-month contract with the possibility of becoming permanent
• Start: ASAP
• Team: 4 Lawyers
• Days per week: Full-time/5 days a week
• Flexibility: Hybrid working
• Reporting to: An outstanding, experienced GC
• Location: Sydney CBD

ABOUT YOU:

• You can hit the ground running – You have a current Australian practising certificate with at least 8 years prior in-house or significant secondment experience
• You are a good lawyer and eager to learn - You are a skilled legal operator who turns your mind to diverse legal issues and works from first principles. You will benefit from and be keen to learn from your colleagues and other professionals within the business.
• You get it commercially – You are comfortable working in a high-performing friendly team, and you have a keen awareness of commercially-minded and practical legal solutions for the business. You have the aptitude to manage work priorities and the expectations of diverse stakeholders.
• You fit culturally – You are self-aware, grounded, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, are proficient in technology, an energetic self-starter, are comfortable operating autonomously, calm and considered, practical with common sense, and prepared to take ownership.
