Wanted: A Storyteller of Craft

Dear visual storyteller, videographer, and creative mind,

If you believe craft has a soul
If you see stories in sawdust, beer foam, and calloused hands
If you want to create content that makes people feel something, not just watch something
Then keep reading.

We’re a collection of businesses built around making—from woodworking and brewing to education and community.

  • Timberbits equips makers with the tools they need to create.
  • Wood Academy teaches people to work with their hands and rediscover the joy of craftsmanship.
  • The Guild Brewery is a brewery built for makers—The Guild blends skill, creativity, and education to craft something truly special.
  • And The Guild—our newest venture—is a place where craft, community, and creativity collide.

We’re looking for a Content Strategist & Video Producer to capture the essence of making and bring it to life across YouTube, Meta, and beyond.

Who You Are:

You’re not just a videographer—you’re a maker in your own right.

  • You understand storytelling, not just shooting.
  • You know how to find the moment—the flicker of pride when a student finishes their first wood joint, the camaraderie of sharing a locally brewed beer, the quiet concentration of a craftsman at work.
  • You’re as comfortable with long-form storytelling as you are with short, engaging social content.
  • You love the challenge of translating the physical and tactile into digital and shareable.

What You’ll Do:

  • Tell the story of making. From deep-dive YouTube videos to snappy behind-the-scenes clips, you’ll craft narratives that inspire.
  • Develop a content strategy. Help us build a sustainable workflow for producing and publishing engaging content.
  • Capture authenticity. Whether it’s woodworking classes, brewery moments, or community events, you’ll document real experiences in a way that feels raw, engaging, and true.
  • Own the video production process. From shooting to editing, you’ll bring ideas to life, working hands-on while collaborating with freelancers when needed.
  • Grow our digital presence. Help us engage with our audience, build our YouTube channels, and create content that resonates deeply with the makers, craft lovers, and beer enthusiasts who find inspiration in what we do.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • A creative filmmaker and storyteller with a passion for craftsmanship.
  • Someone who understands how to film and edit for both long-form and short-form content.
  • A self-starter who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Experience in YouTube and Meta content strategy is a big plus.
  • Bonus: If you’ve built a YouTube or social media audience, we want to hear about it!

Why Join Us?

This isn’t just a job—it’s an opportunity to document a movement. We believe that making things—whether it’s a table, a beer, or a connection—is part of what it means to be human.

This role gives you:
✅ Creative freedom to shape our content strategy.
✅ A chance to work in spaces full of passion, craft, and community.
✅ The opportunity to capture the stories of people who love what they do.

The Role & Locations

This is a full-time role based in Sydney with flexibility to work remotely as needed. You’ll capture the essence of craft across our three inspiring locations:

  • Mona Vale – Home to Timberbits, where woodworkers find their tools and materials.
  • Marrickville – The heart of Wood Academy, where people learn to create with their hands.
  • Robertson (Southern Highlands) – The future home of The Guild Brewery, a teaching brewery where craft and education meet.

Your camera will follow the journey of making across these spaces, showcasing the craftsmanship and creativity that define The Guild.

How to Apply

We don’t want a standard cover letter. Instead, send us:

  1. Your Origin Story – What drew you to filmmaking, storytelling, or craft? Tell us how you became the creative you are today.
  2. Your Eye for Storytelling – Show us a piece of video content you’ve created that you’re proud of, and tell us why.
  3. Capture the Feeling of Craft – Imagine you’re creating a 30-second video that makes someone feel the joy of making—whether it’s woodworking, brewing, or any hands-on craft. How would you do it? Describe your creative approach.

Bonus Points: Submit a video version of your application—show us your storytelling skills right from the start.

Let’s tell these stories together.
