ATS is Australia’s most experienced live fire target systems business, with a history that dates back to the 1950’s. Today ATS is the managing contractor for the procurement, delivery, integration and maintenance of live fire target systems to the Australian Defence Force.

About the role
Based out of our Albury office, the IT Manager is responsible for overseeing ATS’s IT infrastructure, systems, and staff to ensure optimal performance, security, efficiency and business continuity. This role involves managing IT operations, developing technology strategies, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies and standards, and supporting business objectives through innovative IT solutions.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business goals.
- Oversee the management, security, and maintenance of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.
- Lead and support the IT team, ensuring continuous development and high performance.
- Manage IT budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships.
- Ensure compliance with relevant IT security policies, data protection laws, and industry regulations.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain and execute disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve integration, efficiency and productivity.
- Oversee IT service desk operations to maintain high user satisfaction.
- Manage software licenses and ensure proper documentation of IT assets.
- Collaborate with other departments to implement technology solutions that enhance business operations.
What you will need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role, you will require the following skills and attributes:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in IT infrastructure, cloud computing platforms, cybersecurity, and enterprise software.
- Knowledge of IT governance, compliance, and best practices.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ Years experience in managing IT teams, budgets, and strategic planning.
- Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or equivalent (not essential).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise IT systems, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity frameworks.
Essential
- Australian citizenship and a current driver’s licence
- The ability to obtain and hold Australian Defence Security Clearance
