About the opportunity:
Position: Cardiac Perfusionist – Trainee
Vacancy: Fixed Term Temporary full-time, Three (3) years
Location: Perfusion Department, Surgical Service Group
The Cardiac Perfusionist - Trainee will:
Undertake training in contemporary Cardiopulmonary Bypass Techniques as well as Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) and autotransfusion services and will be supervised while performing these functions by a senior Perfusionist.
The perfusion trainee will strive to achieve the highest possible clinical standards of care for patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass.
The successful applicant will be trained in all aspects of perfusion to attain these ideals.

- Salary range: $79,051 to $116,189 p.a. (HP3)
- 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements:
- Minimum of 200 clinical cases
- Successfully obtain a Master of Cardiovascular Perfusion (or equivalent)
- Pass ANZBP examinations
- Weighted Average Mark of at least 60 (GPA 5.0) (i.e. A credit point average)
- Prerequisites are human biology (anatomy & physiology), physics and chemistry (bridging/short courses will need to be completed if they do not satisfy the prerequisites) https://www.monash.edu/study/courses/find-a-course/cardiovascular-perfusion-m6050
- Applicants for this position with need to successfully complete the mandatory clinical and academic training outlined by the ANZCP to gain certification as a clinical perfusionist.
- The successful applicant must possess a relevant tertiary Science degree and be eligible to enrol in the Masters in Cardiovascular Perfusion offered by Monash University, Melbourne (or equivalent). Entry criteria for the master's course includes:
- Be eligible for membership with The Australia and New Zealand College of Perfusion (ANZCP) on completion of the master's course.
- Evidence of post graduate research work leading to a higher degree in Science would be favourably considered.
