My client is an innovative manufacturer within the additive manufacturing industry that is targeting clients across a variety of industries worldwide. They manufacturer locally and are going through a significant growth phase, therefore they are looking for an experienced Head of Operations to join their Victorian business.

As the Head of Operations, you will oversee and optimise the end-to-end operations in Australia. This includes production, supply chain, project delivery, quality assurance, and operational excellence. The role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on leadership experience in high-tech or manufacturing environments, preferably with exposure to additive manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and industrial solutions.

The role will have the following responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategies to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
• Lead the planning, scheduling, and execution of production activities to meet business objectives.
• Define and monitor key performance indicators to track and enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
• Implement sustainable manufacturing practices, focusing on reducing waste and energy consumption.
• Oversee manufacturing and repair processes.
• Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with the R&D team to integrate innovative technologies and processes into manufacturing.
• Develop and execute risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions, such as supply chain challenges or operational downtime.
• Lead procurement, supplier relationships, and inventory management to reduce costs and improve reliability.
• Develop contingency plans for supply chain risks and ensure resilience against potential disruptions.
• Maintain rigorous quality control standards across all products and processes.
• Oversee compliance with certifications and standards, including ISO and AS9100.
• Ensure the organisation remains up-to-date with industry regulations and adopts best practices to meet evolving compliance requirements.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers, technicians, and operational staff.
• Foster a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with the executive team on business growth, market expansion, and operational scaling in Australia.

To be considered for this position you will have:

• 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or advanced manufacturing industries, with a focus on scaling operations.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or industrial manufacturing sectors preferred.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, analyse metrics, and drive operational efficiency.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, additive manufacturing processes, and production systems.
• Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
• Demonstrated experience in managing sustainability initiatives and improving environmental impact.
• Strategic thinker with hands-on problem-solving abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
• Professional certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma desirable.
