The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Oral Health service Teams works to improve access to dental care for IUIH and Member Services with a particular focus on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals. The service aims to promote oral health, supporting family well-being, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, culturally appropriate Oral health services for all clients through integrated holistic care.
About the Role?
As the Senior Dentist within out Oral Health South-West team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of improved clinical oral health services to Indigenous communities across the region. The role will provide dental, education and training services to IUIH Oral Health workforce and clients, in the context of comprehensive Primary Health Care services. The position will provide high quality general dental practitioner oral health services across the region from designated primary clinic locations and outreach services as required.
The role is located throughout the Southwest region with travel to Goodna and Redlands region. Within this role, you will be required to:
- Provide high quality general dental practitioner services to the Indigenous population and maintain advanced skills and experience in an area of clinical treatment.
- Consult with other clinicians and external service providers to achieve best treatment outcomes for all patients ensuring that dental care is in line with national ethical, legal standards of Dental care.
- Provide of effective clinical supervision, guidance and management of dental graduates, oral health therapists, dental therapists and dental assistants.
- Provide leadership and a demonstrated commitment to the process of continuous quality improvement as an integrated aspect of service development and delivery
- Provide clinical leadership towards activities required for obtaining and maintaining clinical and organisational accreditation as required standard
- Ensuring compliance of all policies and procedures, actively contribute to developing and maintaining a culture where staff are vigilant to risks to themselves, their co-workers, clients or visitors.
- Set an example of professional and compassionate leadership for clinical staff throughout the service. Role model performance accountabilities and desired standards of behaviour promoting a positive attitude, enthusiasm, respect and support of other staff.
- Coordinate and manage the functioning of the Oral Health Service through planning, organisation, leadership, monitoring and evaluation of resources from both a day-to-day management and a strategic planning perspective.
About You?
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD
- Current APHRA Registration
- Tertiary qualification in Dentistry from a recognised institution
- Minimum five years’ general dental service practice experience
- Professional Medical Indemnity Insurance
- Current Unrestricted working rights within Australia
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificates (Willingness to obtain upon commencement)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
