Your opportunity:

Aligned to Urban Utilities' corporate strategy and core operations, the People and External Relations group is a key enabling function in our business, responsible for driving performance and achievement of the organisation's objectives through the delivery of effective engagement, partnerships and relationships with our people and key external stakeholders.

We currently have an exciting, 6 month fixed term opportunity to join and lead the Community Relations, Planning team, partnering closely with our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery Group. In this role you will identify and support the delivery of quality community engagement and communication activities, ensuring all requirements are met for high visibility projects.

You will work closely with the Community Relations Lead, Operations and lead a small team to plan and deliver the Community Relations Planning Program of Works. With working knowledge of IAP2 best practice, you will develop and deliver tactical, proactive and emergent communications and informative content for customers, community and stakeholders across a variety of traditional and digital engagement channels.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Through open and collaborative engagement, build effective relationships with a with a broad range of stakeholder groups to support Integrated Planning & Operations and Maintenance activity.
  • Lead and motivate a small team, communicating goals that align to strategy and addressing emerging risks and challenges
  • Develop and implement Project Community Engagement Plans and communications using IAP2 methodology
  • Utilise your expertise and excellence in communications to input into the development of Project Community Relations Plans, ensuring the delivery of high-quality community engagement and communications.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Communications and/or other relevant discipline/s.
  • Leadership experience in a similar role, with the ability to plan and manage resources to deliver objectives
  • Demonstrated experience managing customer and community relationships and engagement
  • Practical experience in implementing IAP2 principles and practices
  • Significant experience engaging with numerous stakeholders in infrastructure and maintenance
  • Proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and building effective working relationships.
  • Highly developed, professional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and appreciate the value in diverse perspectives and requirements.
