About the Role
Join KARI Clinic as an Intake and Assessment Officer, where you’ll oversee the central referral process and ensure Aboriginal families receive the right therapeutic care. This role is essential in assessing client needs, engaging with caseworkers and carers, and coordinating internal and external services for children, young people, and families.
This is a fixed-term contract until December 2025 with possibility of extension.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Maintain cultural integrity and provide cultural support to clinic staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with referral networks and service providers.
- Assess referrals, determine eligibility, and coordinate client care.
- Conduct needs assessments and review previous client assessments.
- Gather essential information from external stakeholders, including schools, paediatricians, and NDIS providers.
- Schedule multidisciplinary assessments and ensure reports are completed on time.
- Provide clients with information on available services and facilitate external referrals.
- Collaborate with clinicians, caseworkers, and families to ensure effective service coordination.
- Participate in service evaluations and attend supervision meetings.
Requirements
- Aboriginality is a requirement for this role.
- National Criminal Record Check.
- NSW Working with Children’s Check (Paid Worker).
- Valid NSW Driver’s License (minimum P2 or equivalent).
Skills and Experience
- Minimum Cert IV qualification in Mental Health, Community Services, Youth Work, Health, Social Science, or Counselling.
- Experience working with Aboriginal families with complex needs.
- Background in coordinating referrals, client care, and maintaining databases.
- Strong ability to build relationships with external Aboriginal and mainstream health services.
- Excellent confidentiality management and stakeholder trust-building skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team.
- Strong communication and time management skills.
