About the role

Terria is an innovative technology company based in Canberra, ACT seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a full-time role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions that drive our company's success.

What you'll be doing

Open Source

• Develop and enhance TerriaJS, a Cesium and Leaflet based open source geospatial visualisation platform.
• Contribute to the open-source community by sharing knowledge and building a vibrant ecosystem.

Product & Services

• Contribute to development of TerriaJS based SaaS and ‘on-prem’ products.
• Work with stakeholders to build or maintain existing TerriaJS based solutions.

Data & DevOps

• Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate their data into our projects.
• Build and maintain geospatial and non-geospatial web services to support visualisation.
• Manage cloud infrastructure and ensure seamless performance of our systems.
• Explore new technologies to make our tools more powerful and user-friendly.

What we're looking for

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with modern software development tools and technologies, including version control systems, build automation, and cloud-based infrastructure.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of 3D geospatial data formats.
• Experience with MobX or other state management libraries.
• Familiarity with GeoServer, QGIS.
• Experience creating data visualisations like choropleth maps.
• Background in contribution to open-source projects or communities.
