ORGANISATIONAL OVERVIEW

Cockburn Basketball Association (CBA) is a not-for-profit organisation, with a view to be the ‘third place’ in the life of our community. The Cougar Family values inclusion, enjoyment, and excellence, translating to people, family and basketball. In that order. The Association proudly has 3,500 members across 350 competition teams, 35 representative teams, two NBL1 programs, and a booming grassroots base.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, the Basketball Programs Coordinator will play a vital role in delivering basketball programs and activities that drive participation and accessibility. This position focuses on growing participation rates and expanding basketball development initiatives both within the Association and throughout the Cockburn community. The role will lead the nation’s top-ranked Aussie Hoops program, as well as Sporting Schools and All Abilities programs, while also having the opportunity to innovate and evolve existing programs to further enhance community engagement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General Responsibilities:

  • Administer, implement, execute and review the 12-month calendar and operational policy and process associated with participation business area. This includes Aussie Hoops, Sporting Schools, Cougar Academy, Holiday Camps and new initiatives.
  • Implementation of the Cockburn Basketball Association’s operational plan (participation) that aligns directly with the overall strategic plan and vision. This includes input and advice to the Operations Manager on this plan.
  • Development of new initiatives that invite the community to the Cockburn Basketball Association’s participation programs.
  • Coordinate participation coaches and volunteers to ensure all participation programs are always appropriately resourced.
  • Actively coach in the Cockburn Basketball Association’s participation programs where possible, working to ensure a Programs Coordinator is coaching a program wherever possible.
  • Work with the Operations Manager to ensure Financial Year Budget targets and processes are met in the participation business area.
  • Manage all external Cockburn basketball venue bookings for participation, including quality management, to ensure an outstanding end experience for the user.
  • Responsible for the set-up of new participation seasons/programs. This includes maintenance of the Cockburn Basketball Association’s website.
  • Assist in the management and delivery of the Cockburn Basketball Association’s social media platforms.
  • Proactively plan, project and manage, with the Operations Manager, future participation size and growth (including its associated impacts).
  • In addition to the responsibilities indicated, the Employer is entitled to request the Employee to perform such other duties as are within the Employee’s training and competence and are reasonably requested in order to meet the strategic requirements of the Association.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant Basketball coaching or playing experience
  • Relevant program delivery experience (ideal but not required)
  • Current “C” Class Driver’s License
  • Current Working with Children’s Check (WWC)
