ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.

The role is full-time (35hrs) and all roles are based at our Penrith office.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The role provides provides supports to children and families and facilitates contact between children and their birth family within the Restoration Program. The Restoration Program provides support, intervention, and case management to help families address the issues that led to the child's removal, ensuring a stable and secure environment before reunification.

NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)

• Level 35 to Level 42
• Total Package Value: $83,476.99 - $90,899.80 (Package includes leave loading and Superannuation, and is dependent on experience)

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Aboriginality
• Valid NSW Driver’s license.
• Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check.
• Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination.
• Qualifications in Community Services or experience in a relevant field.
• High level of oral and written communication skills and demonstrated report writing and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Experience of knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable, although not essential.
• Experience in working in partnership with Community Services and other services/agencies to ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.
• Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and children protection.
• Varied professional and general life experience.
• Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.
