Position No. 39 – Based in Yarram

Permanent Full Time

Band 4 $71,125 - $74,692 (includes industry allowance) yearly plus 11.5% statutory superannuation

We are looking for a qualified heavy vehicle mechanic to work at our Yarram Depot to make sure our plant and equipment is in good mechanical and safe working order. You will also look after the restocking of our material stores. The right candidate will be motivated, hardworking, organised and willing to learn.

What your day will look like:

• Working mostly on your own, you will have the opportunity to set up and run the workshop with minimal direct supervision. (Help available if needed – Council mobile phone supplied)
• Regular maintenance, servicing and timely repair of vehicles, machinery and plant.
• Minor welding and fabricating.
• Manage and restock the depot material stores.
• Evaluate plant and equipment and give advice on suitable options when going out for tender.

We are looking for someone with:

• Qualification in Heavy Diesel Automotive Mechanics (TAFE), covering electronic and diesel fuel systems, wiring, air brake systems.
• Experience in the repair, maintenance and servicing of equipment, including large and small engines.
• Current driver's license with a heavy vehicle license endorsement.
• The ability to come up with solutions to everyday problems in your workplace.
• Ability to get the job done, even when there is a lot to do.
