Job Title: Commercial Business Development Manager (BDM)

About the Role: Our client is seeking highly driven and experienced sales professionals to join their team as Commercial Business Development Managers (BDMs) across Melbourne, Victoria. This exciting opportunity involves taking the lead in sourcing new business across the industrial, mining, transport, agriculture, and farming sectors.

As a Commercial BDM, you will work closely with the State Sales Manager and sales team, turning data-driven insights into impactful strategies, crafting compelling tenders, and ensuring seamless customer experiences throughout the commercial lifecycle. The role also involves coaching and mentoring the field sales team to enhance commercial knowledge and drive growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Seek and convert new commercial business prospects.
  • Negotiate and manage customer contracts, ensuring sound legal and commercial outcomes and smooth implementation.
  • Coach, mentor, and elevate local commercial knowledge across the existing field sales team.
  • Leverage data to identify growth opportunities and optimize commercial strategies.
  • Develop strategic, high-quality proposals that align with customer needs and company objectives.
  • Inspire and motivate the sales team to successfully transition new business accounts to account management.
  • Oversee the growth and retention of commercial customers.
  • Complete and submit monthly performance and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure service excellence and desired outcomes.
  • Attend trade shows, industry events, and occasional weekend events as required, including overnight travel.

About You: To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ sales experience in a commercial or business development role.
  • Proven success in acquiring new business and meeting or exceeding KPIs.
  • A strong ability to build and maintain lasting customer relationships.
  • Expertise in negotiating complex commercial arrangements and contracts.
  • Data-savvy with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed problem-solving abilities and professional resilience.
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to coach and motivate others.
