Glenhaven Family Care is a Christian Community Service organisation with strong values of Compassion, Hope, Respect, Integrity and Support.
Due to expansion in our program, this is a great opportunity for Children and Youth Support Workers to work with young people under the age of 18 in Glenhaven’s residential care program called Safe Haven. In Safe Haven we provide trauma informed and therapeutic care to children and youth in out of home care in the Northwest region.
In Safe Haven we are looking for people that have a caring heart to provide consistent support, empathy and nurture whilst helping children and youth. You will have experience through either working, volunteering, coaching or parenting / raising children and / or young people.
We are looking for Support Workers to work day shifts, afternoon shifts + sleepover shifts Monday to Sunday, and regular weekend shifts.
Children and Youth Support Workers – Are you?
- Available to work across a 24/7 roster including sleep overs, weekends, active awake shifts and afternoon shifts.
- Knowledge, experience or willingness to learn in providing therapeutic trauma informed care to children and young people that have experienced complex trauma.
- Resilient, passionate and a team player.
- Willing to navigate complex trauma responses and behaviours.
- A good communicator.
- Patient and extremely supportive.
- Have good computer based skills.
- Hold a minimum of Certificate 3 in Community Services / or a similar qualification / or are prepared to work towards such a qualification.
- Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence (must have at least Tasmanian P2 licence).
- NDIS-endorsed Working with Vulnerable People card is essential or ability to acquire one.
- A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
- A current (less than 12 months old) Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check OR National Police Check is essential or the ability to acquire one.
- Due to the inherent requirements of the advertised role, you are encouraged to ensure at all times whilst employed, you are vaccinated against the following: (a) COVID-19 (b) any other pandemic that is recommended under the National Health Management Strategy.
