Job Summary:
As a Speech Therapist, you will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. You will work with clients who have various conditions, such as developmental delays, neurological disorders, hearing impairments, and physical disabilities, to help them improve their communication abilities and overall quality of life. Your role will involve developing personalised treatment plans, providing therapy sessions, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals, educators, and families to support clients' progress.
Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, monitoring and documenting client progress, and providing education and support to clients and their families. You will also stay current with the latest research and best practices in speech-language pathology to ensure high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, voice, and swallowing functions.
- Identify the nature and extent of communication disorders using standardised tests, observational methods, and patient history.
Therapy Planning and Implementation:
- Develop individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient needs.
- Implement evidence-based therapy techniques to address communication and swallowing difficulties.
- Monitor and adjust therapy plans as needed to ensure progress and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Patient and Family Education:
- Educate patients and their families on the nature of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Provide training on techniques and strategies to support therapy goals outside of clinical sessions.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and physicians, to provide holistic care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
Professional Development:
- Strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in the use of speech therapy assessment tools and technology.
- Stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and best practices in speech therapy.
- Engage in peer reviews and case discussions to maintain high standards of care.

Qualifications and Essential Requirements:
- Working With Children Check
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screen Check
- Education: Masters or Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology.
- Professional Registration: SPA registration as a Speech Pathologist.
- Background Checks:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
- Business Requirements: Active ABN.
- Skills: Proven experience in facilitating therapy interventions and achieving meaningful outcomes for clients.
- Passion: A strong commitment to working with individuals in the community who are living with a disability.

Working Conditions:
- Employment Type: Casual / Subcontractor with hybrid work options.
- Physical Demands: May involve lifting, standing, and providing physical assistance to patients.
- Hourly Rate: $70 - $100
