Our client located within East Gippsland region are looking for Peer Workers to join their team. Working in the youth trauma recovery sector of the community, they pride themselves on creating safe spaces, mentoring and supporting at-risk youth.

As a Peer worker your life experiences living with mental health and trauma challenges and your personal recovery journey will provide the foundation to mentor and support at risk youth

You will be required to mentor and support these at-risk youth, working within a multidisciplinary team assisting young people to access Youth In search Peer Programs, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Openly communicate and draw on own lived experience of trauma and mental health and experience of recovery to help guide practice and support
  
• Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm may change depending on daily requirements
  
• Ability and use of company car to drive long distance locations on a daily basis
  
• Using strengths-based and person-centred approach to communicating with others about their recovery journey
  
• Use and understanding of own self-care measures
  
• Understanding of and ability to use Microsoft 365, and learn how to use the Youth Insearch Case Record Information Management System
  
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  
  The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  
• Ability to share lived experience of trauma and demonstrated experience of recovery
  
• Certificate IV or higher in Peer work, Mental Health, Community Work, Welfare, or International Peer Support or willingness to obtain
  
• Open and confident with your own communication skills
  
• (Employee) Working With Children Check
  
• Knowledge of community engagement practices
  
• Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain
  
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  
• Current valid drivers license
