The King's College is a Pre-kindergarten to Year 12 coeducational school with a current enrolment of 970 students, situated in Wellard in the southern corridor of the metropolitan area. The College is growing in size, and a new Primary School opened in Term 1, 2024. The College is a ministry of The King’s Chapel and has been offering quality education in the area since 1986.

The College’s vision is to provide a Christian education and train its students to “be exceptional”. Students need to believe they can improve and are not locked into certain levels of achievement. This requires a growth mindset from students that is supported by their teachers.

The King’s College is committed to ensuring child safety in every aspect of College life. The enrolment policy is one of inclusion, and this is reflected in the number of students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

About this role

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced person with a strong desire to serve and a passion for quality service delivery. This is a multi-faceted role primarily responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the College & grounds, and gardens, with other general duties as required.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant must:

  1. Be an active Christian sharing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Adhere to the 'Staff Code of Conduct', 'Child Safe Policy', and 'Statement of Affirmation of Faith'.
  3. Promote the College in the community and surrounding districts.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, families and team members.
  5. Have experience in maintenance, landscaping, or related fields, including proficiency with tools and equipment commonly used in groundskeeping.
  6. Knowledge and experience in public address and audio-visual is desirable but not essential.

  • Ability to perform various maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively, such as repairing structures, maintaining grounds, and ensuring the safety and functionality of facilities.
  • Strong commitment to upholding safety standards in all maintenance and groundskeeping activities, ensuring a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain cleanliness and tidiness across the school grounds, reflecting a respect for the learning environment and fostering a positive atmosphere.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and external contractors to address maintenance needs and ensure the smooth operation of the school's facilities.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey instructions, report issues, and interact respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and respond promptly to maintenance emergencies or unexpected challenges.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement necessary repairs or improvements in a timely manner.
