We are looking for an experienced Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper to manage our financial operations and provide valuable financial insights to support our growing business.

Your Role

As an Accountant / Senior Bookkeeper, you will supervise and mentor a junior accountant and play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia. Your responsibilities will include:

✔️ Bookkeeping & Financial Management

• Perform accurate and timely bookkeeping tasks, including maintaining ledgers, journals, and financial records
• Manage daily bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly
• Oversee the invoicing process, including issuing and following up on invoices to ensure timely payments
• Track accounts payable and receivable to maintain accurate financial records
• Monitor financial transactions and ensure compliance with company policies

✔️ Payroll & Compliance

• Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations
• Prepare and lodge BAS statements
• Provide support for audits and assist with financial documentation when needed

✔️ Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements
• Generate management reports and financial analysis to support decision-making
• Collaborate with departmental managers to ensure accurate job costing and financial tracking

✔️ Administrative & Office Management

• Handle office management duties, including organizing financial records and preparing reports for management and external accountants
• Perform general administrative duties as required

✔️ Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise and mentor a Junior Accountant
• Work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure smooth financial operations

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

✔️ Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA qualification or preferably actively studying towards CPA.

✔️ Technical Skills & Experience

• Proficiency in Xero (essential)
• Knowledge of ZohoOne (advantageous but not required)
• Proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and reporting
• Experience in preparing BAS statements and management reporting

✔️ Professional & Personal Qualities

• Fantastic verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex situations
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Reliability and punctuality
• Ability to lead and mentor a Junior Accountant

✔️ Additional Requirements

• Must live within a 30-minute commute from/to University Hill Bundoora
• Police check required (or willingness to obtain one as we are supplier to Police forces and handle sensitive Police data)
• Must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency (due to our sensitive government work)
