  • Salary Package: From $84,437 to $113,697 per annum (Level A) plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: Full-time, fixed-term for two (2) years. An extension for a third year may be considered, subject to funding availability.
  • Location: Based at Wallumattagal campus, North Ryde

About You
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to contribute to our disinformation studies research projects. The successful candidate will work alongside Professor Julian Droogan and Ms. Jennifer Williams on social media-based research investigating influence operations, their effects, and effective countermeasures.

Your work will involve:

  • Conducting qualitative analysis of online and traditional media

  • Examining how ideas gain public support through case studies of successful influence operations

  • Collecting and analysing data, including visual analysis

  • Leading or contributing to research reports and academic publications

  • Assisting in supervising PhD and MRes students

  • Supporting the technical aspects of the research projects

Essential Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD (or near completion) in International Security Studies, Media Studies, Cyber Security Studies, or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience in empirical research on online extremism and/or disinformation

  • Fluent proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia

  • Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research

  • A willingness to acquire new and diverse skills

  • Experience in independent and team-based research

  • Demonstrated ability to publish in academic and professional settings and contribute to grant writing

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and oral)

Desirable selection criteria:

  • Technical expertise in web scraping, data management, and data visualisation
