This position is within the Strategic Policy and Intergovernmental Relations team of the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training. The team's responsibilities include managing strategic planning, policy, and projects, such as national education policy initiatives to help the organisation enhance its performance and provide quality education services across the Northern Territory through evidence-based reform. Additionally, the team develops and maintains strategic partnerships with the Commonwealth Government and other Northern Territory Government departments.

The position is based in Darwin, Northern Territory, and includes providing strategic policy advice on education and intergovernmental matters, along with coordinating the monitoring and reporting of the department’s response to strategic reform initiatives. The key responsibilities include:

  • Providing detailed analysis and strategic advice on current and emerging public policy issues in education at local, national, and international levels.
  • Supporting the development, establishment and implementation of effective monitoring, review and reporting systems to enable improved outcomes linked to strategic directions.
  • Analysing intergovernmental agreements, including funding arrangements and national partnerships, to prepare advice and recommendations for senior management.
    Managing the development and implementation of strategic projects and provide support to a small, but dynamic work unit to achieve its operational goals.
