Occupational Therapist - New Graduates and Working Holiday Visas Welcome
OneOnOne Children's Therapy
Posted 25 days ago
We are looking to expand our Occupational Therapist team in the heart of Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Are you an Occupational Therapist who is interested in:
- building comprehensive clinical skills in the paediatric area
- extensive training and support as you develop your career
- working with an extremely friendly team who constantly supports each other
- a workplace that offers a very individualised program to each child and family
What is our purpose?
We are a multi-disciplinary paediatric practice for children with one clinic in Bondi Junction and one clinic in Mascot. OneOnOne Children’s Therapy is a team of 18 staff led by Occupational therapists, Speech Pathologists, and Certified ESDM Therapists. We have a range of staff experience. Some staff with over 30 years experience, some have 5-10 years experience, and we have 5 staff who are in their first year of work.
Our purpose is to help our children reach their full potential and gain crucial life skills through a holistic and comprehensive family-centred approach.
Where are we located?
We currently have two clinics. One of our clinics is located in the towers above Westfield Bondi Junction which embraces a magnificent view of Sydney Harbour. It is one minute from the retail shopping in Westfield, two minutes’ walk from the train station, and 10 minutes’ drive from either Bondi Beach or Centennial Park. Our second clinic is in Mascot opposite the train station and within 2 minutes walk of supermarkets, retails stores and cafes.
One clinic has a custom built Occupational Therapy gym and a large group space so you have the opportunity to deliver individual intervention and group intervention. Occupational Therapists play a key role in social skills and school readiness, and we know that delivering these interventions is best done in a group environment. We have 7 individual therapy rooms where children receive their highly individualised programs. Our other clinic offers another group therapy space and 6 individual therapy rooms. Both clinics include a kitchen so we can support children with fussy eating issues.
What clients will you work with?
You will see children with:
- Developmental and Global Developmental Delay
- Learning difficulties
- ADHD
- Sensory Processing issues
- Children with no specific diagnosis who require support to develop independence in self-care skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills and many other areas
- Autism Spectrum Disorder. If you are interested, you will be supported and trained to be certified in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). This is an evidence based model for early intervention, so you have to knowledge to work confidently with children living with developmental delay and and autism.
- Picky and restricted eating
Working with a variety of children is a critical step in building your clinical skills.
Where will you work?
You will work in the clinic environment doing both individual sessions and group sessions. Some children benefit from the input of 2 different professionals so you should expect to do some joint sessions with other therapists. We definitely want you to do some Occupational Therapy sessions in our gym. Most of our staff member go to one of our local schools for half a day a week, and we would include this in your schedule. Each preschool aged child has a preschool visit once a term so you will be able to learn how to assess a child's progress each term in this environment. We also offer Telehealth to families when they are isolating due to illness.
Intervention should be available to children in a variety of different environments as this supports generalisation of skills. We don't want children to learn skills just in the clinic with a therapist. We want the skills to generalise to all environments.
