Your role at St John of God Ballarat Hospital
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager acts as a responsible and effective team member, assists in the overall clinical management of the Rehabilitation ward, is responsible for the provision of comprehensive patient care and supervision of care given by junior staff.
The Position
- In the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager, the ANUM assumes responsibilities for the utilisation of personnel and management of unit in collaboration with Coordinator.
- Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in collection of audits, statistics, staff performance management and productivity analysis data.
- Monitors staff levels against budget/target levels related to number of bed days, occupancy and patient acuity. Adjusts staffing levels in consultation with the Unit Manager and/or Coordinator according to changes in levels.
- Assists the Nursing Unit Manager in identifying resource needs and developing budgets and operational plans.
- Discusses any concerns regarding patients and staff with Nursing Unit Manager/Coordinator.
- Provide leadership and direction to team in the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager and act as a role model and resource person.
- Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of/and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice and acknowledges accountability/responsibility for own actions.
You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife, have well developed analytical and problem solving skills and knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing. With demonstrated ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams

We can offer you
- Salary: $107,721 to $111,330 plus 11.5% superannuation
- Fixed-term full time position to August 2025, potential for role to go permanent.
