About Us:

United Abilities is a registered NDIS provider, dedicated to empowering adults and children living with a disability. Our clients are located all over Adelaide. We work closely with clients while focusing on supporting and empowering them in their daily activities, with a focus on peer support through capacity building in social inclusion and community access, all while encouraging and promoting an active, healthy and positive lifestyle. We offer individual Supports as well as group activities.

United Abilities is at the beginnings of a brand new mentoring program, United Abilities offers NDIS mentoring services designed to support individuals in developing essential life skills and building independence. Support can include a mentor or support worker assisting participants with tasks such as attending appointments, shopping, managing bills, participating in social activities, and staying connected with others in the community. Our mentoring service focuses on fostering confidence, skill development, and meaningful connections. Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport: Assist clients with transportation to appointments, group activities, and other social outings. (Full Drivers Licence and Comprehensive Insurance is required for this role)
  • Community Support: Provide support to clients in a variety of community settings.
  • Personal Support: Provide tailored assistance with daily life to help individuals live as independently as possible
  • Group Activities: Offer support during group activities, promoting social inclusion and engagement.
  • Empowerment & Peer Support: Foster a positive and supportive environment that prioritizes an individual person based support, capacity building, and empowering clients to reach their full potential to meet their individual NDIS goals;

About You:

  • Previous experience in disability support is advantageous but not essential.
  • A passion for working with individuals with disabilities and a desire to make a positive impact on their lives.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and a compassionate approach to support.
  • Work in a manner which empowers and values people living with a disability;
  • Understand the individual needs of our Clients and be able to use your initiative;
  • Have an understanding of the benefits of exercise and social inclusion/community accesses for a happier and healthier life;
  • Availability to work afternoon shifts during the week, most afternoon shifts can range from 3pm-10pm, Tuesday Availability all day (not essential but preferred)
  • Ideally seeking candidates with the availability to travel to the southern or northern suburbs (both not required)
  • Be very flexible and honest with availability, working a variety of shifts throughout the day.
  • Adhere to United Abilities policies, procedures, Code of Conduct and the NDIS Practice Standards

Mandatory Requirements for the role:

  • A CURRENT DHS Working with Children’s Check
  • A CURRENT NDIS Worker Screen
  • A CURRENT First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • A CURRENT Manual Handling Certificate
  • Valid Passport OR Birth Certificate
  • Hold a current unrestricted SA Drivers Licence and have access to a reliable car (covered by full comprehensive insurance)
