The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance & Compliance coordinator to join the AKKF Team on a Full-Time ongoing basis. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the Finance & Compliance Coordinator will support finance and compliance activities for AKKF. We are looking for someone who is eager to expand their skillset and hit the ground running.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accounts Payable
  • Process accounts payable in finance system according to the finance procedures. Maintain history of approval process for audit purposes.
  • Upload approved invoices into finance system from the expense management system software.
  • Accounts Receivable
  • Undertake regular reviews of Accounts Receivable to ensure that invoices are paid on time.
  • Financial Management
  • Prepare creditor and payroll and payments via Commbiz for authorisation within payment terms, as required.
  • Prepare purchase orders, invoices and donor receipts as requested.
  • Assist in the preparation of month end journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure external compliance requirements are met with ACNC filing and filing required with other external parties as required.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance engagements within the organisation to ensure compliance of the organisation to its policies, processes and procedures.
  • Accounting
  • Upload approved invoices into XERO from the DEXT software applying the correct account and project activity codes to enable project accounting.
  • Process accounts payable in XERO software according to the finance procedures.
  • Administration
  • Manage vendor enquiries and monitor customer accounts for non-payment and delayed payment and follow-up with customers as needed.
  • Understudy the Finance & Payroll Officer to be an alternate for the payroll functions with the supervision of the Senior Finance Manager.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting/business studies or demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar role (accounting/payroll/risk background), working within a small finance team or risk team.
  • Working knowledge of XERO.
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting practices.
  • Proficient in the MS Office suite especially Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with and build a rapport with a variety of stakeholders (internal and external), tailoring communication to suit the level of financial literacy of the audience.
  • High standard of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Proactive, adaptable, positive, “can do” attitude and approach.
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.
  • Problem-solving skills, that are solutions focused.
  • High level of resilience and tenacity.

You will be required to:

  • Maintain a current satisfactory check for working with young people, as per the relevant state/territory legislation.
  • Maintain a current and satisfactory CrimCheck.
  • Maintain eligibility to work in Australia.
