Kervale is a prominent property and real estate development company headquartered in Bay St, Brighton, Victoria. As we continue to expand our portfolio, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. This is a full-time position based in our office at 415 Bay St, Brighton, Melbourne. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and providing strategic financial leadership.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with Kervale's business objectives.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to optimise financial performance and drive profitability
  • Oversee the integration and maintenance of financial systems.
  • Ensure internal financial reporting meets regulatory and business needs.
  • Improve financial processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate financial results to the executive team and provide strategic recommendations
  • Analyse financial trends to predict future performance.
  • Provide recommendations based on financial projections.
  • Lead the budgeting process, working collaboratively with department heads to establish financial goals.
  • Develop and maintain robust forecasting models to support decision-making processes.
  • Develop long-term financial plans to guide company growth.
  • Ensure alignment of financial strategies with business objectives.
  • Communicate financial forecasts and reports to executive leadership
  • Evaluate investment proposals and financial feasibility.
  • Conduct thorough financial analyses to support investment decisions and project evaluations.
  • Provide recommendations to maximise investment returns.
  • Formulate investment strategies to drive business growth.
  • Identify funding sources and negotiate financial arrangements.
  • Establish profit reinvestment strategies.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of various business scenarios and provide recommendations.
  • Identify and assess financial risks, implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting standards.
  • Implement compliance strategies to meet all legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Work closely with auditors and external advisors to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow to support operational needs and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee cash flow management to ensure liquidity and financial health.
  • Develop strategies for optimising working capital and managing debt.
  • Implement effective treasury and cash management practices.
  • Demonstrate experience in building, leading and mentoring a finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the skills and resources needed for high performance.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to enhance financial understanding and alignment.
  • Align financial strategies with Kervale’s values, mission, and long-term goals.
  • Act as a key advisor to the executive team, providing insights to drive company culture and strategic decisions.
  • Foster an environment of transparency, ethical financial practices, and corporate responsibility.
  • Operate constructively, ethically and supportively at all times.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:
  • A CA or CPA degree is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 10 years of Senior/Executive leadership experience
  • Due to the urgency of the company requiring this role, applicants must be able to start in the role by start of May 2025
Key Selection Criteria.

Applicants must have a/an

  1. Proven track record of cross-functional Executive level engagement and integration.
  2. Ability to translate and communicate complex financial data and report into actional business insights
  3. Experience working in and reporting out of complicated corporate structures e.g. multiple companies, different jurisdictions etc.
  4. Experience in system implementation, designing and implementing change processes and managing outcomes in a finance department.
  5. Experience developing and leading a team and working with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Experience within the real estate or property development industry.
  7. Strong understanding of financial modelling, investment analysis, and project finance.
  8. Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  9. In-depth knowledge of relevant financial regulations, accounting principles, and reporting standards.
  10. Experience across multiple international financial jurisdictions to support investor negotiations.
  11. Proven ability to provide sound strategic financial planning advice at company director level.
  12. The capacity to travel nationally and internationally on an as required basis.
