About Us

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.

About the role

To lead the development of Apunipima’s Workforce Strategy and the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Service Workforce Project plan. The Workforce Development Manager will also focus on management of learning and development strategies and frameworks.

This position is identified where, under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to workforce development and/or learning and development.
  • Experience in a leadership role supporting a team to deliver effective workforce development strategies and learning and development outcomes.
  • Substantial experience in workforce planning or learning and development.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying workforce development practices and strategies, including developing and implementing learning and development strategies and frameworks.
  • Experience in reviewing organisational capacity to implement and evaluate workforce development strategies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the workforce requirements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled health sector.
  • Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control.
  • Must be willing and have the ability to travel in Cape York either by light aircraft or 4WD, as required

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Australian Federal Police Check, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence
  • Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
