The Opportunity:
We have a great opportunity to join the Fire & Natural Hazards team as the State Risk Fire Manager.
The State Fire Risk Manager has a key role in ensuring the Corporation meets its obligations as a firefighting authority and public authority under the Rural Fires Act and continues to develop best practice approaches to fire and other natural hazard management across the estate.

About the role:
Forestry Corporation manages almost 2.2 million hectares of land across NSW including Softwood and Hardwood plantations. This position will lead the strategic coordination of bushfire risk planning, development of implementation strategies for priority works and find innovative ways to protect Forestry assets from fire and other natural hazards.
This position will lead the incorporation of the latest data, science and research into Forestry Corporation bushfire risk planning and work in collaboration with other agencies and key stakeholders to develop new models and plans.
We would love you to have:
- Significant strategic and operational experience in the prevention, mitigation and response to fire and other disaster-related events including experience in coordination and command functions during emergencies
- Strong leadership and exceptional relationship, influencing and negotiation skills, supported by demonstrated experience dealing with multiple stakeholders (including inter-agency and inter-disciplinary groups) with potentially competing interests
- High levels of personal drive and initiative, with a strong achievement orientation and ability to work automously and take ownership of a significant and, important project
- Experience in working safely in a high-risk environment and delivering practical operational outcomes with a strong safety culture
- Substantial relevant experience at a senior level in complex, commercial or public safety focused organisation with a large, geographically dispersed workforce
