The Strengthening Cultural Safety Project Lead works in close partnership with stakeholders to foster culturally safe environments for Aboriginal staff, women, men, young people, children, and families within the Orange Door sites. Responsibilities include delivering Strengthening Cultural Safety training, leading the Cultural Safety assessment and action planning process with the Hub Leadership Group, and collaborating with the Aboriginal Advisory Group for recommendations. Additionally, the Project Lead will engage with the state-wide network to facilitate best practices in cultural safety through training modules and "train the trainer" sessions.
This position requires MARAM Family Violence Comprehensive Risk Assessment training and adherence to relevant family violence risk assessment frameworks.

Key Selection Criteria:
• Demonstrated commitment to MDAS values, vision and purpose.
• Awareness of family violence issues and impacts on Aboriginal families.
• Understands the unique challenges of family violence in Aboriginal communities and is dedicated to supporting individuals and families in culturally appropriate ways.
• Commitment to local Aboriginal history and Culture as a protective factor for families. Understanding of The Orange Door’s functions and MARAM, FVISS, & CISS training.
• Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead training and cultural discussions, build relationships, and promote culturally safe environments. Experienced in conducting training, fostering open discussions, and building relationships to encourage culturally safe environments.
• Competency in project delivery, group facilitation, report writing, and use of digital tools (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint).
• Works effectively within a team, actively engaging in knowledge-sharing, supporting peers, and incorporating constructive feedback.
• Experience in team collaboration, peer support, knowledge-sharing, and openness to feedback.
• Take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.

Qualification/s:
Relevant qualification (Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, or equivalent) or minimum 5 years’ experience in family violence, child and family services, or similar social services.

Other Screening Requirements:
A current Driver’s License that allows you to drive in Australia.
A current Employee Working with Children Check card.
A current National Police Check.
COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate & Booster information or a valid medical exemption.
