About the Organisation:
DVassist is a unique and innovative new organisation that addresses the complex issue of abusive relationships in regional, rural and remote areas by providing readily accessible support and services to people impacted by family and domestic violence. We deliver telephone support, counselling and case management, as well as webchat support and training to workplaces. We are a small team of experienced and passionate family and domestic violence advocates who are committed to providing robust services for people living in regional, rural and remote Western Australia.
About the Role:
Exciting opportunity for a professional, highly motivated and passionate about social justice practitioner to join our team. The primary duties of this role are to provide telephone and webchat interventions to people impacted by family and domestic violence living in regional, rural and remote Western Australia. The position is located in Nedlands, but regional applicants are encouraged to apply, as we do offer remote working opportunity for the right candidate.
We have a variety of shifts available between 8 am – 8 pm Monday to Thursday and are seeking an applicant that can work across days/afternoons. Our staff are also required to be flexible and adaptable to support our clients as the service evolves and opening hours extend. Casual work will also be considered.
About You (Essential Requirements):
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology or counselling and registration with a relevant professional body
- Experience in the family and domestic violence sector
- 2 + years experience in delivering trauma-informed responses in a counselling and case management frameworks
- Able to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the barriers and complexities that exist for regional, rural and remote WA communities in accessing services
- Well-developed knowledge of the effects, drivers and dynamics of family and domestic violence
- Knowledge of the family and domestic violence service ecosystem throughout regional WA
- Enjoy working autonomously, taking initiative and engaging with external stakeholders (including community engagement and development)
- Sound IT skills and experience working with a variety of databases
- Current WA Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance or commitment to obtain
- Right to work in Australia
- Flexibility to work across day/afternoons shifts.
