The Opportunity

This role provides the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to gain more experience within the APS in financial accounting and treasury and get the foot in the door to this sought after federal government department.

• Non-ongoing 6 months + 6 months contract, with potential for extension or permanency as it’s a vacant position

The Role

As an APS6 Financial Accountant and Treasury Officer, your key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing and approving payment runs, drawdowns, section 74 transfers, and daily reconciliations
• Conducting cost centre mapping maintenance for drawdowns
• Reviewing end-of-month reconciliations and quarterly user access
• Preparing month-end journals, general ledger reconciliations, BAS, and FBT
• Preparing CBMS monthly and annual reporting for the Department of Finance
• Compiling soft close and year-end financial statement workpapers and notes
• Managing a small team

The Ideal Person

You have a solid understanding of financial accounting and treasury.

Experience with CBMS, section 74 transfers, and financial statement preparation within the APS is highly regarded.

Strong accounting and treasury knowledge, along with the ability to work effectively within a team, will be critical to your success in this role.

You are likely to come from one of the following backgrounds:

• Experience at the Associate or Senior Associate level in consulting firms, with Federal Government engagements involving financial accounting or treasury
• Previous experience working within the Federal Government in treasury or financial accounting

Applicant MUST be Australian Citizens and have an existing baseline security clearance to be considered for this opportunity.

Salary / Rate

$95k - $108k + 15.4% Super
