What You'll Be Doing:

The Clinical Nurse/Midwifery Specialist in Diabetes within the Outpatients Department of the Royal Hospital for Women provides diabetes education, clinical care and management to improve the health and well-being of women within the preconception, antenatal and postnatal period. This position is a part-time job share working within the Antenatal Outpatients Department. In addition it acts as a resource and consultant to other health workers and agencies to assist in delivering high quality evidence based services to pregnant women with diabetes. The Clinical Nurse/Midwifery Specialist will be an expert resource for other health staff of Community and Gynaecology.

Selection Criteria:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse and or Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
- Relevant post registration qualifications in Diabetes or completion of relevant course with at least three years’ experience working in the clinical area of the Antenatal OPD
- Demonstrated commitment to the NSW Health Breastfeeding Policy and the BFHI Principles’
- Supports working in a person centred environment with demonstrated advanced clinical leadership in diabetes education and management.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and autonomously with limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to exercise professional knowledge and judgement in proving complex care/case management utilising advanced clinical skill in diabetes
- Commitment to ongoing education and upgrading of professional skills and ability to act as a mentor to others
