About the Role

The General Labourer role at Rino Recycling is responsible for performing a range of manual and physical tasks that support the daily operations of the waste recycling plant. This role contributes to maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.

Role Responsibilities

• Transport, load, and unload materials using hand tools, wheelbarrows, or manual methods.
• Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper safety and security measures are followed.
• Assist skilled tradespeople (e.g., carpenters, masons, electricians) by preparing work areas, gathering tools and supplies, and following instructions.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment by disposing of waste and debris appropriately.
• Clean and properly store tools and equipment after use.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks, such as digging trenches or filling holes.
• Assist with setting up and dismantling temporary structures.
• Adhere to all workplace health and safety (WHS) guidelines and protocols to ensure personal and team safety.
• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Attend safety training sessions and meetings as directed.
• Conduct all tasks in compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
• Perform other duties, projects, or responsibilities as assigned, within the scope of skills, competence, and training.

Take responsibility for workplace safety by:

• Leading by example and actively participating in safety initiatives.
• Addressing and correcting unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
• Ceasing any work activity that presents an imminent risk to health, safety, or the environment.
• Understanding and following HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) plans, procedures, and Safe Work Method Statements.
• Reporting and proactively addressing any identified hazards or risks.

Education and Qualifications:

• A High School Certificate is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills and Knowledge:

• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
• Proficiency in using basic hand tools and equipment.
• Strong ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Effective teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Commitment to high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.
• Strong safety awareness with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Adaptability to changing work demands and the ability to handle unforeseen challenges.

Physical Requirements:

• Capability to perform strenuous tasks, including lifting, carrying, bending, and digging.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing 25kg or more.

Essential Requirements

• Valid driver's licence (must be maintained).
• Current Construction Induction/White Card (or willingness to obtain).

• Pre-employment medical assessment required due to the physical nature of the role.
• Employees may be required to perform duties within their skill, competence, and training in any area of Rino Recycling, consistent with their classification level.
