Are you passionate about improving health outcomes in Western Sydney by reducing tobacco and e-cigarette use and related harms?

WSLHD Health Promotion is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Health Promotion Officer to join our dynamic team on a temporary full-time basis until January 2026.

In this critical role, you will spearhead strategic direction and operational management of programs dedicated to tobacco control and smoking cessation. You will have the opportunity to develop and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, advocating for and establishing healthy environments that mitigate the risks associated with tobacco and e-cigarettes.

We are seeking candidates who possesses:

• A solid background in health or a related field
• A strong understanding of health equity and the social determinants of health, and their impact on population health outcomes
• Proven skills in population health program management
• Knowledge of effective health promotion and prevention strategies to address tobacco and e-cigarette use
• Experience working with priority populations, particularly with Aboriginal communities, socio-economically disadvantaged groups and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

1. Tertiary qualifications in health or related field
2. Demonstrated high level project management skills including the ability to plan, implement, evaluate, performance monitor and report on the outcomes of evidence-informed programs
3. Demonstrated understanding of equity as a principle for underpinning program planning and implementation
4. Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate and provide leadership to a team to deliver population focused health promotion outcomes
5. Demonstrated ability to establish, maintain and negotiate with internal and external partners to facilitate and deliver collaborative action to achieve successful program implementation and sustainability.
6. Demonstrated high level organisation skills, oral and written communication skills, negotiation and interpersonal skills
7. Demonstrated ability to analyse, understand and work with, and within, a range of systems, sectors and agencies to implement change.
8. Working knowledge or understanding of the WSLHD community context and demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a cross cultural context, particularly with members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse communities.
