About the role

Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Software Developer. This is a Full Time, Permanent Position commencing 17 March 2025. This position will be located at the Townsville Catholic Education Office at Denham Street, Townsville City.

The Software Developer (SD) is an Information Technology professional who develops, implements and maintains software applications within the Information Technology and Services (ITS) Team. The Software Developer role is responsible for ensuring that the solutions they develop meet business requirements and adhere to best practices in software development.

The Software Developer role works closely with senior members of the Knowledge & Applications team to design, build and support new and existing software development solutions, integration and reporting products.

The Software Developer reports directly to the Team Leader Knowledge & Applications and may work in small ad hoc teams through ITS to achieve TCE’s strategic outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Write, test, and maintain high-quality code.
  • Ensure software solutions meet business requirements.
  • Debugging and fixing software issues.
  • Document code and software design.
  • Develop and implement software development, integration and reporting solutions.
  • Document, maintain and enhance services provided by the Knowledge & Applications team.
  • Work with stakeholders to accurately capture user requirements.
  • Build and improve collaborative relationships with teams within ITS, TCE and external partners.
  • Lead various project activities and programs as required.
  • Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
  • Create and maintain the specification and application of standards with ITS.
  • Effectively acquire, build and improve knowledge of relevant Information Technology standards, best practice, and processes to ensure quality service outcomes for Townsville Catholic Education.
  • Assist in mentoring graduate and junior software developers.
  • Other duties as directed..

About You

Experience

  • Minimum two years as a Software Developer or similar role.
  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science.
  • Experience in both operational and business intelligence reporting solutions.
  • Development experience in the Microsoft Development environment (Visual Studio, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, etc.).
  • API utilisation, creation and maintenance using PostMan.
  • Implementing and maintaining Single Sign-on solutions using Okta.
  • Strong C#, .Net Core and JavaScript background.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card or eligibility to obtain same *
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
