The primary function of this role is to review state and local strategic planning policy changes to identify how proposed changes will affect the organisations interests. Producing briefs for internal stakeholders outlining the proposed position on the amendment and then advocate externally to garner support for your position within state government, their agencies and local government.

In order to be successful in this role you will be a qualified town planner who has gained enough practical experience to be able to predict how a proposed strategic plan change will affect planning officers decisions on the ground. This can have been gained from either a prior role as a strategic planner developing the policy (for either local and state government), or as a statutory planner with practical experience of interpreting planning policy. You will also need excellent communication skills to corral committees, follow up with detailed plans of action and summaries of meetings as well as great communication skills (both written and verbal) in order to persuade a range of internal and external stakeholders.
