Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Research Fellow in Transport Demand and Travel Behaviour, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering to join School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.

To support our research activities in Transport Engineering and Transport Data Analytics at QUT, we are seeking a highly motivated professional with strong publication records and advanced proficiency in travel demand modelling, discrete choice modelling, designing choice experiments and machine-learning methods to address sustainable transport and mobility challenges.

We’re offering this role as a hybrid position as part of QUT’s commitment to embracing the opportunities created by a more virtual and connected world.

About us

QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering brings together engineers who deliver teaching and research excellence in the sustainable design, planning, construction and operation of infrastructure and resource management to solve societal challenges and support more liveable communities. We design and improve infrastructure to address real-world challenges such as overpopulation, natural disasters, and climate change, and we shape the world we live in by engineering liveable and sustainable environments with safe, efficient, and reliable infrastructure. Our teams are actively engaged in research and teaching in the areas of infrastructure, environmental engineering, and civil construction with key strengths including:

• Traffic operations and efficiency
• Intelligent transport systems
• Transport Safety
• Travel demand
• Transport systems
• Urban water management
• Climate change adaptation
• Infrastructure resilience
• Structural health monitoring
• Fire safety engineering

Our research is supported by deep industry connections that enable the translation of our cutting-edge research into real-world outcomes. We have a highly capable higher-degree research student body, with over 80 students engaged in MPhil and PhD programs. The School’s research is well aligned with the University’s real-world positioning through better partnerships across internal and external boundaries. Our researchers study the natural, built and virtual environments to find ways to make them more sustainable, secure and resilient. Our School also has ties with major QUT research centres, including the Centre for Data Science, Centre for Materials Science and Centre for Agriculture and Bioeconomy..
