Title: Bushland Restoration Officer, Permanent - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week

Salary Range: $89,907.72 to $104,487.69 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

The Environment & Resilience Business Unit manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and the environment of the Northern Beaches. The Unit delivers the strategic and operational management of:
• Bushland and biodiversity protection and restoration including threatened species and pest species management and the control of bush fire risk
• Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs
• Strategic environmental systems & programs, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability
• Environmental education, volunteering and engagement
• Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals, co-ordination of s94 works delivery and certification of development works
• Stormwater asset maintenance, renewals and design and construction of new assets
• Floodplain risk planning and management

Our opportunity :
Reporting to the Coordinator – Bushland Management, the role of Bushland Restoration Officer is to provide a high-level technical support in managing bushland and biodiversity matters across the Northern Beaches Council LGA. The position will undertake works/activities in strategic and operational bushland management. The role will also action customer requests and assisting with other field work as required, including the supervision of contractors.

Key Responsibilities include:
1) Strategic and operational bushland management
2) Scoping and proposing projects
3) Writing and administering contracts
4) Managing budgets and bushland regeneration contracts
5) Overseeing works and liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders
6) Proactive engagement with the community and meeting the requirements of Council’s Customer Experience Strategy
7) The Bushland Restoration Officer will require demonstrated experience and an excellent understanding of bushland and biodiversity management, threatened species, pest species control, and associated processes e.g. Bushfire hazard.

About you :
We’re looking for an experienced bushland management specialist to join our Bushland and Biodiversity team. You’ll bring experience in management of bush regeneration contracts, and high level customer service skills to a team passionate about protecting and enhancing our environment and making a difference to our community.
