Continuing its tradition for excellence in the education of girls, Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking a knowledgeable, innovative and engaging Teacher of French to join the collaborative team in our Languages Faculty.
You are passionate about the future for young people, you believe in every student’s capacity to achieve at a high level and have a demonstrated capacity to engage and motivate students. You have experience in curriculum design and an understanding of targeted feedback and the importance of designing complex and high quality formative and summative assessments.
The successful candidate will preferably be a native speaker, and will be an expert teacher in French, and experienced in a range of LOTE teaching methodologies. You are dedicated to the effective implementation of a high-quality French Program from Years 7 – 12 including differentiated activities and the development of enthusiastic, astute students who will communicate competently and confidently in the French language. It is essential to have experience in teaching both Middle and Senior Years classes, including VCE level classes. Experience with the AIM methodology is welcomed.
Knowledge and implementation of a variety of online and multimedia programs to support student learning is highly desirable.
The successful candidate is dynamic and passionate Teacher of French and enjoys working closely with colleagues to develop curriculum and teaching strategies. The ability to maintain a positive and encouraging approach congruent with the values of the School is essential.
This position is located in the Merton Hall Senior School Campus at 86 Anderson Street in South Yarra VIC 3141. The role is full time and the salary is as per Schedule 1 – Teacher Rates of Pay of the MGGS Enterprise Agreement 2023. The salary range is between $88,140 and $131,352 plus superannuation.
Key Selection Criteria:
Teaching Qualifications & Registration: Undergraduate degree in the relevant teaching area and current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
Knowledge of Curriculum & Pedagogy: Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements, with the ability to apply contemporary teaching and learning strategies.
Student-Centred Approach: Ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments that support students’ diverse learning needs, including literacy and numeracy development.
Use of Data & Assessment: Competence in using student data and a range of assessment strategies to inform teaching practice and improve student outcomes.
Commitment to Professional Learning: Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues to enhance teaching practice.
Technology Integration: Proficiency in using digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning, including platforms such as Microsoft Office 365, Synergetic, and SchoolBox.
Communication & Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues while maintaining professionalism.
Child Safety & Wellbeing: Commitment to upholding child safety policies and ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contribute to professional networks, and support the school’s culture and values.
Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion: Understanding of and responsiveness to the needs of students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
