About This Opportunity

The ICT Contract Specialist plays a key role in supporting UQ's ICT procurement activities by preparing, reviewing, and managing contracts and supplier relationships to ensure terms are accurate, low-risk, and beneficial to the University. The position focuses on optimising cost, quality, and risk through effective contract negotiation and due diligence, while also promoting strong contract and supplier management practices. Working both independently and collaboratively with sourcing specialists and UQ Legal Services, the role operates in a supportive and process-driven team environment, aligning with University policies and expectations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the ongoing contract and supplier management activities for a number of key ICT supply arrangements to ensure ongoing quality and stability of services, and containment of cost and business risk
  • Draft, review, and manage ICT contracts and variations in line with UQ policies and templates
  • Identify and manage legal and business risks, working with UQ Legal and maintaining standard terms.
  • Contribute to process improvements, maintain records, and stay up to date on contemporary ICT technologies and procurement practices.
  • Undertake ICT sourcing and other procurement activities.

About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications in law, business, IT or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
  • Extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating ICT contracts, including SaaS and software agreements.
  • Strong understanding of legal risk in commercial contracts and ability to manage procurement-related risks.
  • Solid understanding of ICT procurement practices and public sector procurement frameworks.
  • Proven ability to consult, influence, and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders in complex environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage high workloads, prioritise tasks, and work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to outcomes, and a positive, collaborative approach to team and individual work.
