About us
Treasury is at the centre of Government decision making. We are responsible for managing Western Australia’s public sector finances and formulating and implementing the annual State Budget. We develop economic and revenue forecasts, and monitor developments in the State’s economy, major revenue bases and public sector finances, to ensure Western Australia remains on track against the State Government’s budgetary objectives and policies. Our policy advisory role covers a wide range of issues, including Commonwealth-State financial relations, revenue policy, advice on alternative models of service delivery, infrastructure provision, and more.

The opportunity
We offer a structured 18-month Graduate Program with three diverse rotations across Treasury, with the potential for a rotation to the Western Australian Treasury Corporation (WATC). During the 18-month structured program you will work on individual and team-based projects, which will allow you to develop intricate knowledge of Treasury work areas and be exposed to high impact and meaningful work.
As a Treasury Graduate Officer, you will:
- be exposed to a wide range of work areas, including policy, economics, finance, budget analysis, and accounting;
- grow your capability and practical skills by performing challenging work that makes a difference;
- continue your development journey with extensive training opportunities;
- expand your professional network across the sector and industry; and
- join other committed young professionals in a supportive network that runs regular social events, community volunteering, and professional networking.

Eligibility
Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying. To be considered for the 2026 Treasury Graduate Program, you must:
- have successfully completed a tertiary degree between December 2023 and December 2025;
- demonstrate high academic achievement (Weighted Average Mark of 70% or above);
- be an Australian Citizen or an Australian permanent resident at the time you lodge your application; and
- be available to start the program in mid-January 2026.
We welcome applications from relevant disciplines, including Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business, Commerce, Data Science, Economics, Finance, International Relations, Law, Legal Studies, Politics, Public Policy, and Mathematics.

Pool duration and subsequent vacancies
This is a pool recruitment process that may be used to fill similar permanent or fixed-term vacancies that may arise within 3 months of the Graduate Program’s start date. Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this program, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies within Treasury and across the WA public sector, in accordance with Part 2 of the Commissioner’s Instructions No. 39: Interim Arrangements to Fill Public Sector Vacancies.
About Department of Treasury WA
The Department of Treasury consists of two businesses – Treasury, and Strategic Projects and Asset Sales.
The Treasury business provides economic and financial management and advice to Government. This includes the formulation, implementation and monitoring throughout the year of the State Budget; economic and revenue forecasting; advice and analysis on financial arrangements with the Commonwealth; advice on infrastructure policy and planning; advice on the State’s financial management framework; and management of the Public Ledger.
Strategic Projects and Asset Sales manages the State Government's high-risk infrastructure projects by overseeing major non-residential building projects and pursuing optimum cost, time and quality outcomes. The projects assigned to the Department are typically greater than $100 million in value. In addition, Strategic Projects and Asset Sales has responsibility for the planning and delivery of the State’s asset sales program as determined by Government.
