Residential Youth Worker - Position Based in Caboolture/Moreton Bay Region

Casual/Permanent Part Time Employment

24-38 hours per week

Hourly wage as per SCHADS award (subject to qualifications & experience)

Koorburra House are looking for dedicated & professional Residential Youth Workers to join our team.

We specialize in providing 24 hour residential care and emergency respite care and aim to provide a warm, friendly home environment for our young persons where they can learn life skills and to live a full rewarding life.

Residential Youth Workers are required to provide day to day assistance and support to our young people in line with their support needs and identified goals.

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will:

Guide and prompt with personal care needs i.e. meals and meal preparation and hygiene.

Accompany young people on outings

Transport young people to school and appointments

Help to learn new skills and socialize in their local community

Assist with medication administration

Provide a safe environment and quality care & support for vulnerable young people and children with trauma backgrounds.

Provide trauma informed care to children and young people with both behavioural challenges and trauma backgrounds

To be successful you will need the following:

Preferred Qualification is Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or Youth Work or higher (If you are currently studying the above course and am needing placement, we may be willing to work with you to achieve the qualifications for this role).

Qualification of Certificate IV or higher in other recognised field (refer to 'Minimum Qualification Standards Information Sheet which can be found at minimum-qualification-standards-information-sheet.docx (dcssds.qld.gov.au)

Hope and Healing online Framework Foundations Training

Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) & Trauma Informed Care training is essential!

Current Blue & Yellow Card

Current Driver’s License with own reliable vehicle (minimum third party property damage insurance)

Current First Aid and CPR certificate (or willing to obtain)

A high level of written and verbal communication skills

Experience with clients with challenging behaviours – complex care

Current Medication Competency (highly desirable)

Confidence and professionalism in your ability to provide client focused support

Strong professional boundaries and the ability to follow procedures

Ability to be flexible within your work environment and to work as part of a team

Have access to your own portable smart device e.g. phone

Must provide a Certificate after completing the FREE MODULE “Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You” –https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/worker-training-modules-and-resources/worker-orientation-module

Must have completed or be willing to complete the Child Safety ‘Hope & Healing’ framework and provide a certificate

High level of availability with both day, night and weekend shifts
