About the role:
Melville Cares is looking for a Maintenance Worker for 15–20 hours a week to join us in supporting older people to live safely and independently in their own homes. In this rewarding role, you’ll report to the Team Leader and carry out general maintenance tasks based on each client’s support plan.
You’ll provide high-quality service while promoting client dignity, safety, and wellbeing. Each task you complete—whether it’s cleaning gutters, checking smoke alarms, or making minor repairs—makes a real difference in someone’s life.
This is a flexible part-time role that suits someone who is reliable, self-motivated, and passionate about helping others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out home maintenance tasks such as:
Gutter cleaning
Smoke alarm checks
Window and high-level cleaning
Changing light bulbs and tap washers
Installing lock boxes
Minor paving repairs
- Promote safety and client dignity in all tasks
- Communicate effectively with the Team Leader and report changes or concerns
- Contribute to a reablement-focused approach to client care
- Model and uphold Work Health & Safety procedures
- Actively participate in education and training requirements.
- Other duties as requested by the Team Leader
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in a similar maintenance role
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while following direction
- Valid “C” class driver’s licence and a roadworthy vehicle
- National Police Clearance (within 3 months)
- Understanding of Aged Care Standards
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in the aged care or community services sector
