Position Overview:
The Assistant Area Services Manager is a strategic service manager role responsible for coordinating facility operations, driving compliance, and optimizing service delivery across multiple client sites. This position acts as a key operational liaison, ensuring alignment between on-ground teams, senior management, and clients—while providing a direct pathway to the Area Manager role.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Coordination & Performance
Provide on-the-ground support to ensure seamless operations across client locations.
Manage, coordinate and supervise ad-hoc and periodic tasks, including urgent requests (e.g., events, emergencies etc).
Assist with the resolution of maintenance tasks and point of liaison for minor troubleshooting of equipment on-site.
Respond quickly to site-based incidents and support managers in resolving operational issues.
Team Leadership & Development
Train and mentor site staff on operational protocols, WHS compliance, and client expectations.
Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to drive accountability.
Collaborate with HR and Area Managers to address staffing needs and skill gaps.
Stakeholder & Client Relations
Serve as the operational contact for clients, resolving issues and ensuring satisfaction.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to coordinate resource allocation and project timelines.
Prepare detailed performance reports for senior leadership, highlighting KPIs and improvement opportunities.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all sites comply with WHS, environmental regulations, and company policies.
Proactively mitigate risks by addressing operational hazards and escalating critical concerns.
Maintain rigorous documentation for audits, incident reports, and regulatory compliance.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
100% compliance with WHS, contractual SLAs, and company protocols across all sites.
Zero unresolved client escalations (measured monthly).
95%+ staff training completion rates for operational/compliance programs.
Reduction in operational downtime through proactive troubleshooting.
Positive stakeholder feedback (measured via quarterly surveys).
Career Pathway
This role is a strategic pipeline to the Area Manager position, with progression based on:
Consistent achievement of KPIs (see above).
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-site operations autonomously.
Leadership in process improvement and client retention.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
At least a Diploma level qualification
2+ years in facility operations, team supervision, or multi-site coordination.
Proven ability to manage compliance, train teams, and optimize processes.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable:
Certifications in WHS, Facility Management, Project Management or Operational Management.
Experience with CMMS software or operational reporting tools.
Knowledge of sustainable facility practices and cost-control strategies.
Working Conditions
Field-based role with travel to client sites (indoor/outdoor environments).
Flexible hours (may include early mornings/evenings for site inspections).
Office-to-field hybrid (administrative tasks + on-site oversight).

External: Clients, Suppliers, Contractors, Regulatory Authorities
This is a full-time position.
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 ex super.
