Tiwi Islands and Training Employment Board is the CDP provider for the TIWI Islands. We aim to develop business and employment opportunities for TIWI's within the context of TIWI culture.

We work with both employers and job seekers to identify permanent, seasonal and external employment opportunities for Tiwi people.

The Employment Consultant position is based on Bathurst Island - Tiwi Islands & provides personalised services to long and short term unemployed, through identifying barriers to employment and supporting Job Seekers to build skills and experience leading to paid employment.

The position requires relevant recent experience in employment services and/or case work, preferably in the Community Development Programme.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Excellent customer service skills

Previous experience in a similar role

A demonstrated knowledge of the CDP Contractual obligations and ability to interpret and apply current and emerging guidelines and procedures.

Ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with clients, peers and relevant agencies

Sound computer literacy and data management skills

A high standard of verbal and written communication as evidenced by the proven ability to prepare correspondence and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people

Proven ability to manage time and work load effectively to meet competing deadlines, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality and discretion

A demonstrated understanding and awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in contemporary Australian society.

Hold a Working with Children card and National Police Check
