The Team:
The Oncology - Medical Day Procedure Unit is an 8-chair satellite unit of the Northern Cancer Service, providing outpatient Medical Oncology and Haematology Services to the community of the North and North West region of Tasmania. The unit delivers support and clinical care to patients with cancer, along with supporting patients requiring infusion therapy for non-oncological conditions.
You will join a team of highly specialised nursing staff with a focus on clinical excellence and have the opportunity to develop advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
The Role:
We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join our supportive and motivated team located in the Oncology/Medical Day Procedure Unit at the Mersey Community Hospital.
The successful candidate will strengthen health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.
The ideal Registered Nurse will:
- Be competent in vascular access
- Have ADAC competencies, or a willingness to learn
- Be a critical thinker with good patient assessment skills

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
