Position Summary

As an experienced online educator, the candidate will work as an independent contractor of LINC Education to offer online facilitation services for students studying in the Master of Nursing (Online) offered by Victoria University Online. The educator will be responsible for the day-to-day academic support and delivery responsibilities, as well as providing a high level of 1:1 student support. Additionally, the online educator (referred to as LINC Fellow) will receive specialized training and active mentorship from LINC’s team to excel at online teaching. The program is offered in VU’s revolutionary block model, where students take one unit in 8-week blocks.

What’s on offer?

Selected applicants will be engaged as independent contractors and will be offered a competitive fixed remuneration of $6800 to manage a class of approximately 25 students. Further upsides are available based on larger batch sizes as well as achievement-related increments of up to 20%.

The role requires you to commit 10-15 hours per week during an 8-week study period, preceded by predeployment training. Since most online students are working professionals and study in non-office hours, online facilitators must have the flexibility to support students after 5 pm on weekdays (same-day response to student emails/texts) and over weekends.

Educators will have the flexibility to work from a location of their convenience.

Roles & Responsibilities

LINC Fellows will be responsible for providing subject matter guidance to a group of 25-30 postgraduate online students through email/text / 1-1 online sessions. The following areas will be covered:

Learning skills like academic writing, research, and time management;

Guidance on relevant reference material;

Assessment marking with long-form feedback

Moderating discussion forums and online learning activities; and

Proactive, prompt, and personalized support for student queries and issues.

Selection Criteria

Registered Nurse or Midwife (AHPRA registration)and knowledge of unit content and knowledge of unit content.

PhD and/or Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant field (i.e. health-related) plus 5 years' relevant teaching, research, and/or professional experience at the PG level in the last 10 years

Full rights to work within Australia.

An Australian Business Number or ABN as a sole trader, or of the entity that will contract with LINC.

Additionally, candidates need to:

be empathetic, ambitious, warm, and outgoing personality willing to work closely with people from diverse cultures;

possess excellent oral and written communication;

possess a working laptop and have access to high-speed (>10 MBPS) stable internet connection;

be willing to quickly learn and use technology platforms for interacting with students, including the host university’s LMS and LINCtrac (training on these platforms will be provided).
