The Location:

The Position:

• Manager Commercial Services, fulltime, temporary contract
• 6-Month contract term
• Local Government opportunity
• $71.71 - $79.35 per hour + superannuation, plus casual loading if necessary
• Housing and leaseback vehicle to be negotiated with the successful candidate
• 6 direct reports

The Objective:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Services department staff, finances and assets in accordance with the organisation’s mission, department’s functional responsibilities, accountabilities, structure and resources as approved by the host employer and articulated in Annual Operational Plans, to ensure optimal returns to the organisation and to the community.
• To provide strategic leadership in asset and business planning, and to provide advice and assistance to high level decision making for commercial undertakings, including financial and market analysis.
• To drive the future direction of the management of successful and growing business enterprises including property and land, airports, saleyards, and fleet.
• To focus the delivery of the organisations' commercial services on the outcomes outlined in the Community Strategic Plan, by ensuring all decision making is done in alignment to resource plans including the Delivery Program, Long Term Financial Plan, Asset Management Plan and Workforce Management Plan.
• To ensure processes and protocols are in place for the Commercial Services department’s compliance with all relevant legislation and policies and ensure that risks are managed as far as reasonably practicable

Essential Criteria:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications at undergraduate level or above and demonstrated experience with a record of achievement in commercial service delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and drive initiatives, to optimise returns and maximise commercial opportunities for commercial portfolios.
• Demonstrated background in the successful management of commercial undertakings and projects, including managing all stakeholder interests.
• Team facilitation and coordination skills including the ability to mentor employees and build a cohesive, responsive team that delivers excellent community focused services in a challenging and high-pressure environment.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and implement significant operational, organisational, and cultural change in a highly consultative environment.
• Strong policy and procedure skills with knowledge and thorough understanding of local government processes and inter-governmental relationships and the ability to achieve outcomes using a wide range of strategies.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and quality customer service which results in positive change/s in the workplace and service delivery.
• Proven ability to operate in a complex political environment.
• Sound computer skills
• Current drivers licence
