Job location

This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s city centre. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending. Our CFMHS Service is expanding our services to Regional Victoria with Barwon and Hume services established.

About the Role:

This program supervises the monitoring and direct treatment of clients placed on a Non-Custodial Supervision Order under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997. This role will support the coordinated supervision of client’s subject to a Non-Custodial Supervision Order (NCSO) under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act throughout Victoria. The incumbent will ensure that forensic mental health issues are adequately addressed, and a high standard of service is maintained by Forensicare through primary and secondary consultation and advice to Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) and other treating services.

Duties:

  • Support the coordination of the NCSO Program.
  • Coordinate, promote, and lead service development processes with demonstrable benefits for clients and the organisation.
  • Complete initial and ongoing risk assessments of clients and develop, or assist AMHS to develop, risk management and crisis plans in relation to NCSO clients.
  • Demonstrate highly developed skills when undertaking bio-psychosocial assessments with clients within the context of a multi-disciplinary approach to service delivery.
  • Undertake secondary consultation and specialist training with Area Mental Health Services and other service providers.
  • Provide clinical advice to treating teams in AMHS who are managing high risk NCSO clients in the community.

About You:

  • Demonstrated minimum 5 year post registration mental health experience.
  • Experience in undertaking comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments, and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical mental health interventions.
  • Knowledge of forensic mental health and forensic mental health risk assessment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult, liaise, facilitate and negotiate with key stakeholders, mental health professionals, clients, and carers.

What you need:

This is a multidisciplinary role and possession of a relevant tertiary qualification and registration as follows is required:

Nursing

  • Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential

Occupational Therapy

  • Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia – Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.

Psychology

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course or equivalent, or a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.

Social Work

  • Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
