Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, renovating, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials. You will be expected to interpret technical drawings, work with a variety of materials, and carry out carpentry tasks to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities
Construct, erect, install, and renovate structures and fixtures such as walls, flooring, framework, roofing, doors, and windows using wood and alternative materials (e.g., plywood, wallboard, metal, plastic laminates).
Study construction drawings and specifications to determine the necessary materials, measurements, and installation methods.
Order, select, and prepare timbers and other materials; lay out project plans with accuracy.
Cut, shape, and assemble wood parts, formwork, sub-flooring, and fittings using manual and power tools.
Assemble prepared wood components into complete structures and verify structural trueness and integrity.
Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, cladding, and frames for doors and windows.
Construct concrete formwork where required.
Carry out high-standard fit-outs and finish carpentry tasks.
Repair existing structures and fittings as needed.
Identify and resolve construction or technical issues promptly and effectively.
Adhere strictly to workplace health, safety, and environmental standards.
Collaborate with the broader construction team to ensure efficient and timely project delivery.
Provide input to improve carpentry methods and construction practices.
Skills and Qualifications
At least Certificate III in Carpentry with a minimum of 2 years experience
Proven experience of delivering high quality carpentry work in a construction environment
Strong knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and construction techniques
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labor
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Understanding of safety regulations and safe work practices
